Project at Aljustrel

Ore Systems Consulting, as of November 1998, has commenced a series of studies on stratigraphic and alteration relations at the Feitais and Moinho VMS deposits on the Aljustrel property in southern Portugal, for EuroZinc Mining Corportation of Vancouver. These deposits, together with three others on the Aljustrel property, are hosted a dominantly rhyolitic sequence of Devono-Carboniferous age which lies within the northwestern portion of the Iberian Pyrite Belt.

The Aljustrel deposits contain over 150 Mt of massive sulfides in total, of which the Feitais deposit contains at least 55 Mt (it is still open in some directions). Other massive sulfide deposits within the Iberian Pyrite Belt include the world-class Neves Corvo deposit, located some 50 km to the south of Aljustrel, and the Rio Tinto, Tharsis and Aznalcollar deposits in Spain.
