Aerial view of Arctic deposit in southern Brooks Range of northwestern Alaska. Several sizable volcanic-associated massive sulfide deposits (the Smucker, Arctic and Sun deposits; each with resources of some 15-30 Mt) occur within the metamorphosed Ambler sequence of interlayered metabasites, metarhyolites, phyllitic to graphic schists, felsic volcaniclastic sediments, and calcareous schists of late Devonian through early Mississippian age (Hitzman et al., 1986). Drill roads are visible on near side of ridge. |
